Summer Reading Planning Workshop a HUGE Success!

Many thanks to everyone who attended the SRP Planning Workshop! We had a terrific turn out!

Every participant received a "goodie bag" from Terminix filled with workshop supplies, a "READ" ladybug pin and a critter.

Susan Santner from UW-Madison (SLIS) spent the morning talking about puppetry, story telling and literacy techniques for children.

The picnic lunch was held in the NFLS 3rd Floor Meeting Room. The menu consisted of:
Stuffed Critter Sandwiches (sandwiches), Fried Butterfly Wings (chips), Slimy Slugs (pickles), Crushed Caterpillar Salad (potato salad), Luscious Ladybugs (cupcakes), Fresh Frog Droppings (green mints) and Beetle Juice (beverages). Ants, worms, frogs and other creepy critters were among the librarians during lunchtime!

After lunch, librarians Katie Guzek, Mariel Carter, Cindy Tuschy and Jen Thiele presented a variety of crafts, games, songs and more.

The day concluded with Brad Hooyman, Education and Volunteer Coordinator at the NEW Zoo with live animals. Brad gave a preview of what his presentation will entail this summer when he visits several NFLS libraries. Brad will bring at least five, possibly seven, animals on all his visits. They will be bugs or animals who eat lots of bugs!
