Final SRP Swap!
Are any children/youth librarians who might typically attend this interested in doing a brown bag lunch meeting BEFORE 1 pm for a "FINAL SRP SWAP??" NFLS could provide the soda. It would give you one last opportunity to meet up with area librarians and swap ideas, projects, thoughts that you have for your Summer Reading Programs. It's just a thought...
Please give me some feedback on this. Let me know:
1) Are you interested?
2) What time you would want to meet. 11:45? 12 pm? We would probably want to end by 12:45.
3) Do you like the idea of a brown bag on your own. OR, we could order in something economical (pizza, subs) and you would pay me.
Homeschooling Workshop to Be Held April 17th!
Being a "retired" homeschooler myself, I tend to be a little more interested in homeschoolers. I was petrified when my husband and I decided to homeschool. What calmed my fears was the amount of guidance provided by books and experiences from other seasoned homeschoolers. Perhaps allowing library space for parents to meet would encourage novice homeschoolers. I feel most homeschoolers are very dedicated to providing the best education for their children. Some of the most negative reactions come from "educated" people who can't believe that "just parents" can homeschool. My experience with homeschooling spurred me to go back to college and finish my education. While I didn't homeschool my children beyond sixth grade, I felt I met the needs and strengths and weaknesses of my children better than a teacher with 30 students could.

The following is a preliminary list of CSLP Themes for 2009. If you want to give me your feedback on your top 5 favorites again, please email me these by March 13th as well. Again, our choices will be collaborated with the other systems, so if I don't get any feedback from you, it will force ME to make the decision for you. And I'm not sure you would want that! :)
